TV series “Sammara” to be broadcast by satellite networks following a crisis in the Egyptian entertainment industry

After concluding a contract with the Dubai satellite network for the airing of the new television series “Sammara” - starring Ghada ‘Abd Al Razeq - producer ‘Essam Sha’ban has commenced talks with the al-Hayya network in the hopes of securing another broadcasting deal for the same series. The producer, who also owns the King Tut production company, has stated: “We have yet to finalize the list of the remaining channels which will air the series, furthermore negotiations with Egyptian Television are currently on hold due to the present circumstances.”The screenplay and dialogue for “Sammara” are credited to Mostafa Muharram. The work was produced by Mohamed al-Naqly and features the talents of Ghada ‘Abd Al Razeq, Lucy, Mohamed Lotfy, Yasser Galal, Ahmed Wafiq, Sabry Fawaz, Samy el-‘Adl, Zakky Fatteen ‘Abd Al Wahab and Rabab Tareq.The series is an adaptation of an Egyptian film production by the same name which starred Tahyya Karyoka. The title assumes as its setting a low income neighborhood back in the 1940’s where a woman named “Sammara” makes her way into the world of drug dealing and eventually finds herself at the head of a criminal gang. Her stunning beauty aids her in her dangerous exploits.
