Director Mohamed Hamdi has affirmed that he is currently searching for a female lead to act alongside actor Mustafa Qammar in the new film title “al-Mouamra”. The director also added that the rest of the working team has been selected with the exception of the female lead whereby he also indicated that the film will feature ‘Ezzat Abou ‘Ouf, Mohamed Lotfy and other youthful actors. The screenplay for the title, which assumes an air of thrill, was authored by Ahmed al-Bey and is produced by Walid Sabry. Hamdi has further indicated that he hopes that calm and security will be restored so that a date could be set for the commencement of filming. The restoration of order is particularly important as the streets have been witnessing incidents of lawlessness, this is problematic as the film is set to be shot in Cairo’s streets and at locations where there are large numbers of people. Hamdi also clarified that the production’s team have agreed to substantial reductions to their salaries so that the cinema industry could become active once again. The industry has been witnessing a degree of stalled activity either due to problems relating to venues, distributors or performers not being keen on participating in cinema works as a result of an anxiety that that could reverberate negatively with audiences.
