Actress Wafaa Amer stated that she will not use any belly dancing outfits when portraying the biography of late legend Taheya Kareoka for her new series “Kareoka”. The reason for this is because she is more interested in focusing on the humanitarian side rather than the artistic side of Kareoka. The series will also play during Ramadan which makes it highly inappropriate to appear on screen half naked. In an interview with “Al Masry Al Youm” newspaper, Wafaa was asked about whether she was ready to impersonate a character with such magnitude and influence in Egyptian cinema and television. Wafaa answered that her studies in the High Institute for Drama prepared her for such characters, ones with an overflow of dramatic experience such as Kareoka’s life which was full of ups and downs. Wafaa also added that she did her homework in the sense of reading every article written about Kareoka and watching a documentary about her, as well as observing closely all the roles she portrayed in her movies. The series “Kareoka” is written by Fathi El Guindi and directed by Omar El Shiekh. Starring Wafaa Amer, Ezzat Abu Auf, Fadia Abdel Ghani, Mohamed Ramadan, Ahmed Refaat and Hossam El Guindi. The series started filming its episodes a week ago for the whole production to be ready by next Ramadan.
