Director Hossni Saleh had previously announced that his series “Shafika and Metwali” will not start shooting before next year, because of its need for a lot of preparations as well as the time the script needs to be completed, yet, script writer Mohamed Safa Amer announced that the script is complete and that the series will start shooting in January. This announcement was made only a few days later after actor Asser Yassin declined for the role he was nominated for “Metwali” opposite actress Somaya El Khashab who plays the role of “Shafika”.As for legendary pop star Mohamed Monir, he has not yet offered an approval or rejection to the role he was nominated for as stated in “Al Wafd” news paper. Mohamed Monir is nominated to play the role of the narrator or “Al Rawi” according to script writer Amer, and it is a new dramatic vision for the folkloric background in a society, and relies mainly on singing and performing. Currently the rest of the actors involved in the series are being nominated such as Mahmoud abdel Ghani who is expected to play the role of “Metwali” instead of Asser Yassin. If the series truly starts shooting in January then it will probably play during Ramadan 2012.
