The Bavaria Festival honors the legend of the German cinema “Fim Fenders”

On the 20th of January 2012 the Bavaria Film Festival will offer the German director Fim Fenders an honorary shield in appreciation to his role in the German cinema along the years and specifically in the last few decades. Starting in the sixties Fenders offered almost 30 productions between narrative and documentary ones. In the past he was twice awarded best director in the Bavaria Festival once for his movie “Wings of Desire” 1987 and the second time was for his movie “Very Far Very Near” in 1993.One of his achievements was the Cannes Festival award “Palme D’Or” in 1984 for his movie “Paris, Texas”. He was also an Oscar nominee in 1999 for his Cuban music documentary called “Bonina Vista Club”. As for his most recent movies, it was called “Bina”, it also won the award of best European documentary during the Cannes Film Festival in 2011.
