"The Shining" might return in a prequel.

Warner Bros. are currently studying the idea of a second part for the classic horror film "The Shining" which is considered one of the best horror movies in the history of American cinema.The company has already asked "Shutter Island" writer and producer Laeta Kalogridis along with his partners Bradley Fischer and James Vanderbilt to produce the film. A source at Warner Bros. assured to Los Angeles Times website that the idea is still in its preliminary phase and hasn't developed yet. The second part will be a prequel to the events that took place in the 1980 "The Shining" which was directed by Stanley Kubrick and was about a recovering alcoholic writer who travels with this his wife and son to a secluded haunted hotel where the evil spirit influences him into killing them. The film stars Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall.
