Youssef el Sherif: mystery shows must "respect the mind of the viewer"

Actor Youssef el Sherif, star of " Ism Mo'aqat" (Temporary Name) has spoken to about his inclinations towards the mystery genre and his upcoming work. Notably, he said that the best thing that a mystery or suspense show can do is respect the mind of the viewer. Sherif felt that following the success of " El Mowatan X" (Citizen X) that audiences are craving this kind of work that makes you think and decipher the puzzles presented by the storyline.

Sherif added that he wanted a similar experience in mystery with " Raqm Maghoul" (Unknown Number) last Ramadan. He was similarly inspired to do "Ism Mo'aqat" this season, as Sherif is a big fan of mystery, action and thrillers. He noted that "Ism Mo'aqat," airing this month for Ramadan, unlike any other project he's done before.

Wanting to draw a line between fine-tuning a knack for a certain genre and being pigeonholed, Sherif said he won't only be doing mystery, and he's looking forward to doing a variety of projects in the coming period. At the same time, though, he said mystery projects will make up the majority of his work, and that he finds himself increasingly in the "suspense" genre.

The actor is currently shooting "Ism Mo'aqat," with production expected to wrap at the end of the week. Also starring on the show are Shereen Adel, Zaki Fateen Abdel Wahab, Amr Abed, Dalia Mostafa, Ramez Amir and Safaa El Tokhi. It's written by Mohamed Soliman Abdel Malek and directed by Ahmed Nader Galal.
