A delegation of stars and public figures recently visited soldiers and police officers injured in last week's bloody events, in which security forces, military and police, forcibly cleared Islamist sit-ins at Rabaa el Adaweya and Nahda Square. The stars visited some of those injured at the Agouza Police Hospital, hoping to raise their morale and affirm the patriotic unity felt between the people, the military and the police.

The delegation included Sameh el Serity, Elham Shaheen, Farouk el Rashedy, Anouchka, Samira Ahmed, producer Safwat Ghattas, Manal Salama, Mohamed Abo Dawood, Menna Fadaly, as well as Father Boutros Daniel, Dr. Ahmed Sakhsoukh and Sheikh Osama el Qousy.

Starting on Wednesday, the campaign to clear the sit-ins began, drawing global criticism for excessive force. Rivaling the bloodiest days in the 2011 revolution, the events left approximately 900 dead, security forces and civilian, and more than 3,700 injured, according to the Health Ministry's estimates. An overwhelming majority of those killed were supporters of ousted Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi, and had been staging a sit-in for his reinstatement at Rabaa for nearly a month and a half.
