World Cup Decides Fate of “Thousand and One Nights” and Thoughts About Postponing to 2015

Adel Abdallah, producer of the series “ Alf Layla wa Layla” (Thousand and One Nights) has stated in an exclusive interview with that the show's fate has not been decided yet, after shooting was postponed two years ago due to financial problems arising from such a big production.

Abdallah pointed out that he has been recently thinking about skipping the next season and considering a 2015 release. He added that the next Football World Cup will take place during Ramadan of 2014, and matches are expected to be aired on several Egyptian channels, which will direct audience attention away from television shows. In his opinion, this makes the idea of a one year delay inevitable.

“Alf Layla wa Layla” was supposed to be aired on Al Hayah channel exclusively during the Ramadan season of 2012. However, airing was postponed for two more seasons, missing the 2013 competition in the way.

An ensemble cast star in the show, including Ghada Abdel Razek, Nicole Saba, Donia Samir Ghanem, Amr Abdel Gelil, Eyad Nassar, Sawsan Bader, Amr Waked, and Haitham Zaki. The show was created by Mohammed Amien Rady, and is directed by Tarek El Aryan.
