Somaya el Khashab on Why "Thoura Shaab" Didn't Release on 6th of October

Actress Somaya el Khashab is super excited to be taking part in the nationalistic operetta “ThouraShaab,” she told us in an exclusive statement, alongside the likes of Khaled Selim, Mohamed Rahim, and Arab Idol stars Carmen Suleman and Ahmed Gamal.

She also said she signed on without any hesitationafter one telephone conversation with composer Mohamed Rahim last Ramadan, anddespite her busy schedule shooting the show “Somaya wel Setat” (Somaya and theLadies) she agreed and then headed to the studio the next day to lay down the vocal tracks for the songs,which she described as a message from artists to the world affirming that whattook place on June 30 "was a popular revolution and not a coup, and that theEgyptian people are one hand." She says the operetta will be translated to anumber of foreign languages until it iscommunicated that Egypt is the greatest and most important nation in theworld and om el donya, mother of the world.

She also revealed that editing was the reason for postponingthe show’s release on the 6th of October, the 40thanniversary of the 1973 victory, but said it will be released in the next fewdays.

The piece was written by Medhat El Adl, distributed byMohamed Rahim, and directed by Hisham Gamal.
