Critics' Favorite "Gravity" to Screen at BFI London Film Festival

Today, Alfonso Cuarón’s drooled-over “ Gravity” is beingscreened at the 57th BFI London Film Festival, which runs from the 9thto the 20th of this month. The film, on track to win heaps moreawards, opened the 70th Venice Film Festival last month,starting the avalanche of critical praise it’s now enjoying.

The movie, which combines stunning visuals of outer space in IMAXprecision, A-list leads, and themes of survival and isolation against a gorgeouscelestial background, stars Sandra Bullock, who plays a talented medical engineer on her first trip to space alongside a veteranastronaut, played by George Clooney. When disaster strikes, they’re left floatinghelplessly in space.

The film is taking part in the festival, outside of its maincompetition. “ Under the Skin”starring Scarlett Johansson, “ Like Father, Like Son” directed by HirokazuKoreeda, and Ahmed Abdallah's " Farsh wa Ghatta" (Rags & Tatters), as well as ten other films, are competing in the festival's official competition.
