'Asrar Aa'eleya' Now in Theaters in Cairo and Other Governorates

The makers of “ Asrar Aa'eleya” (Family Secrets) have been finally able to release their film in theaters, after a months-long fierce battle with censorship.

The film, which follows, in detail, the life of a homosexual for the first time in Egyptian cinema history, is now in over 20 theaters across Egypt, after it had its premiere yesterday at Nile City cinemas in the presence of its cast and crew and a number of celebrities and media stars.

Mohamed Mahran plays the lead, a young man with homosexual tendencies. The film explores the suffering and prosecution experienced by “Marwan” due to his deviation from social standards.

The film also features Salwa Mohamed Ali, Emad El Raheb, Tarek Suleiman and Passant Shawky, and was written by Mohamed Abdel Qader, produced by Ihab Khalil and directed by Hany Fawzy.
