Photos: 'Black Coal, Thin Ice' Wins Golden Bear at Berlin Film Festival

The Chinese film ' Black Coal, Thin Ice', directed by Diao Yinan was awarded the prestigious Golden Bear statuette for best film at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival, in the award ceremony that was held yesterday.

The film tells the story of a police detective, who starts investigating a series of murders, to discover that they are all linked to one mysterious woman. The film's star Fan Liao has won the Silver bear for best actor.

The best actress Golden bear went to Haru Kuroki for her role in the japanese film “The Little House,” while Richard Linklater was crowned best director for his acclaimed “Boyhood.” Best screenplay prize went to the German film “Stations of the Cross.”

The Grand Jury Prize went to Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel, while Alan Resnais' “Life of Riley” won the Alfred Bauer silver bear. The film's producer received the prize on behalf of Resnais. The Chinese film “Blind Message” received the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution for Cinematography, and the prize was received by the film's director and the film's blind female lead actress.
