Cate Blanchettexpressed her happiness to receive a BAFTA for best actress for her role in Blue Jasmine.

Cate said that she has considered stepping away from acting after her decision to move with her husband and playwright Andrew Upton to Australia, where she could act on stage. That was all before she received Woody Allen's call, offering her the lead in his new film. In the film, Cate plays the role of a rich Manhattan socialite who moves to live at her sister's house in San Francisco after falling into poverty and homelessness.

Jasmine, the titular character, chases after memories of her past which remind her of her current misery, but she tries with all her force to reprise her glorious days, fighting her narcissism, that turned her life to a complicated hell.

Most of the critics' Oscar expectations favor Blanchett this year.
