Irish actor Colin Farrel has defended Ben Affleck's casting as Batman in director Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel.

The news that Affleck was replacing Christian Bale for the role were met with widespread criticism.

Farrel said that Affleck ahs progressed as an actor since his role in Armageddon in 1998, and that “"I always enjoyed watching him, as a director he's extraordinary too, but his work in The Town and Argo, he was so fantastic in both those films. In Argo, it was such a controlled performance.

And as a response to the negative feedback from Batman fans, Colin said: "I think he'll kill it as Batman. I hope he does and shuts the naysayers up."

Now that he has been clean of alcohol and drugs for eight years, Farrel said that he's now more focused on his career, and that he would do it all the same, after changing a few things, like some of the roles he accepted.
