A Los Angeles court ordered American singer Chris Brown to serve 131 days in jail after he admitted to violating the terms of his probation.

The sentence followed Brown's confession that he got into a fight in Washington D.C. last year, during which he attacked another man and broke his nose. Without this admission, Brown could have faced up to 4 years in prison.

The judge originally ordered Brown to serve 365 days, but his sentence was reduced to 131 days after taking into account the 234 days Brown has already spent in detention and rehabilitation.

Brown has been under the supervision of the court since 2009, after pleading guilty to assaulting his then girlfriend, American pop singer Rihanna.
