Report: "Edge of Tomorrow" Tops Egyptian Box Office Revenues

American film Edge of Tomorrowtopped the box office charts in Egypt this week, earning an estimated 668,000 Egyptian pounds during its first week in theatres.

The film, starring Tom Cruiseand Emily Blunt, revolves around an American soldier who trains with a Special Forces officer to gain the combat skills necessary to defeat a series of brutal attacks from space.

In second place at the box office was “Meraty wa Zawgety,” (My Wife and My Lady) which earned 654,000 Egyptian pounds this week and moved up one space in the rankings since last week. The film has grossed 5.8 million Egyptian pounds during its seven weeks in theatres.

In third place was Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie, which moved up from its fifth place ranking last week and earned 607,000 Egyptian pounds. X-Men: Days of Future Past fell into fourth place, earning a total of 576,000 Egyptian pounds at the box office last week.

Godzilla also fell in the rankings last week, coming in fifth at 487,000 Egyptian pounds, which puts the film’s total revenues since its release at 3.4 million Egyptian pounds.
