The Guardian has apologized for an editorial mistake in one of its reports, which included statements allegedly said by the British Lawyer of Lebanese descent, and George Clooney's wife Amal Alamuddin, in which she said that she had been threatened to get arrested by the Egyptian authorities.

The report, published by the Guardian on the 2nd of January, also stated that Alamuddin received the threat as a response to her criticism of the Egyptian judiciary system, regarding the trial of the three Al Jazeera journalists. Alamuddin served as the defendant of one of the journalists.

The human rights activist later denied saying any of the alleged statements The Guardian published, confirming that she hasn't received any threats from the Egyptian government, in an article [ublished by The Huffington Post. The Guardian, in turn, apologized for the mistake after being criticized by a group of journalism inspection organizations.
