The play takes place in a working-class home. Over five interconnected scenes, a group of workers dig a hole and repeat the same job over and over again, indifferent to the waste of public funds. The play highlights the importance of conscience and preserving values that send a message to officials about the need to protect public funds and refrain from tampering with them.
