Hafez and his wife Hasna are struggling with their children Shihab, Walid, and Faten's insistence on eating unhealthy food, their fascination with television commercials, their neglectful lifestyle, and their academic struggles. Their father, Hafez, talks to them about how technology has changed their lives for the worse. They challenge him to try a primitive life, giving up his mobile phone, car, computer, and television, to see if he can manage it in the age of spaceships and missions to Mars. He accepts the challenge.
