An Egyptian lyricist, journalist, critic and writer, born in Abu Homs in the Beheira Governorate in 1925, he began working as a journalist during his university studies, until he obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Alexandria University in 1948. He worked in several press institutions, like Al-Jeel Al-Jadid and Al-Ahram magazines. He excelled in more than one field, including: jurisprudence, zajal, poetry, and composing songs. He wrote hundreds of political and social articles and short stories, some of which was adapted into films like Fugitive at Night and Marital Infidelity.
