British writer, actor, and television presenter. He was born in London, England. He is the brother of Nick Smith, a theatrical entertainment presenter, and Richard Smith, a doctor, editor, and businessman. He was the president of the University of East Anglia's poetry society while he was a student there. Before finishing with a bachelor's degree in comparative literature, he wrote for the student newspaper and submitted his drawings to the magazine. He also presented a number of plays. His writing credits include An Evening with Gary Lineker (1994) and My Summer with Des (1998).
