The event was organized by the Tamarod campaign, whose grassroots petition to unseat Morsi eventually led to his ouster. There to break bread from the entertainment world were actress Jehan Fadel, actress Manal Salama, actor Mohamed Eladl, and TV presenter and singer Salma Sabahy. Among the intellectuals who attended were Gamal Bakheet, activist and media figure Gamila Ismail, as well as engineer Mamdouh Hamza, president of the tour guides' union Mohamed Gharib, Ahmed Abdel Aziz, and Suhair Abdel Qader, vice chairman of the Cairo film festival.
