The sixth Cairo International Film Festival was held from November 28 to December 12, 1982, at the Cairo Opera House, under the presidency of Kamal El Mallakh and organized by the Egyptian Association of Film Writers and Critics.
This edition reaffirmed the strong comeback of the festival after a period of suspension and witnessed wide participation from many Arab and foreign countries, including

The festival was distinguished by the screening of some of the most notable films of that era, including the Italian film The Night of the Shooting Stars, which won the Golden Pyramid Award for Best Film.
This edition also contributed to strengthening the position of the Cairo International Film Festival on the global stage, marking a new step toward its official recognition as an A-class international festival.
