A Syrian music composer, born in Damascus in 1922. He began his artistic career as a singer on Radio Damascus when it opened in 1947, then he turned to composing, presenting more than a thousand musical compositions sung by great Arab singers, including Fairuz, Fayza Ahmed, and Warda Al-Jazairia. Among the songs he composed is "Jaat Moathebaty". In 1959, he settled in Egypt and worked on Radio Cairo as a composer for radio singers until 1963. He later settled in Lebanon until the outbreak of the civil war, then he returned to Damascus in 1975. He died on February 13, 2007, in Damascus.
