He is the twin brother of actor Emad Hamdy. He worked at the Ministry of Agriculture. His acting debut was two years before his brother Emad's, when he appeared in the movie Aida, which starred Umm Kulthum. This was his only movie before he started working at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
