An Egyptian director, writer and film critic, born in 1937. He began his journalistic life as a cinema critic in some Egyptian magazines and newspapers that were published in French in Egypt in the 50s, then turned to directing when he met Youssef Chahine and participated with him as an assistant director in the movie The Call of Lovers (1960), and then he wrote the script for the movie Dawn of a New Day (1965). He also appeared in several films, including Alexandria More and More and Youth Under the Sun.
