An Egyptian novelist and short-story writer, born on August 6, 1916 in Shebin El-Koum, Menoufia Governorate. After attending Fouad I Secondary School, he traveled to Paris in 1936 and studied for one year at the Faculty of Medicine in Montpellier. He joined the Faculty of Arts in Sorbonne until 1940. Upon his return from Paris, he began working in the press by supervising the literature page in the newspaper Al-Masry in 1947 and worked in Al-Shaab newspaper from 1956 until 1959. He became the head of the Theater Section at the Ministry of Culture until 1976. He is known for the series The Sleepwalkers (2010). He passed away on October 11, 1985.
