He was born in Sharqia governorate. He got a BA in Acting in 1959, and also a BA in Commerce from Ain Shams University in 1960. He worked in the school theater at the Ministry of Education, then moved to the National Theater. Among his notable plays The Barber of Baghdad (1964), and Scheherazade (1966). He appeared in TV series, including: One Thousand and One Nights, and Justice in Islam. He worked on several films as well, the most famous of which is The Tiger and the Female (1987). He died in mysterious circumstances in the Sayeda Zeinab neighborhood in 1989.
