An Egyptian filmmaker, born in Cairo in 1920 and entered the world of cinema by chance as a graduate of the Faculty of Engineering in 1943. The first film he produced was Flowers and Thorns (1947), which suffered financial losses. He was known for discovering some new movie faces, such as Shadia, Hend Rostom and Zubaida Tharwat. He is known for directing A Sun Never Sets (1959) and Me and My Daughters (1961). He wrote many screenplays, such as Father Amin (1950) which was the first of Youssef Chahine’s films.
