Hager Hamdy is an Egyptian singer and belly dancer. She was born in Tanta in 1924. Hamdy appeared extensively in the 1940s golden era of Egyptian cinema, and retired from acting in the 1950s. She returned again shortly but retired again to become a business owner and raise her son. Hamdy's films include “Banat El Reef” (Country Girls), “Keid El Nesa” (Women's Wits), “Aruset El Bahr” (The Mermaid) and “Almoalem Bolbol” (Chief Bolbol), the last being the only film in which she appeared as the female lead.
