He was an Egyptian composer born in Alexandria on April 2, 1912. He loved music since his childhood. He studied in Alexandria and remained in it until 1939. In 1932, he began frequenting Cairo theaters before working in them. He composed the score for numerous films, most notably Interview with the Devil (1955), The Lady's Puppet (1946), and The Thug (1957). He was honored on more than one occasion, during the era of President Gamal Abdel Nasser and President Anwar Sadat. He died on July 29, 1990 at age 78, leaving behind a huge artistic legacy.
