She was born in Port Said in 1945. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University in 1964. She began her career in journalism, then turned to the field of literature. She worked in many positions, including managing editor of the Radio and Television Magazine, and a deputy in the Egyptian Shura Council. She published many literary works, some of which were adapted on television. She married journalist Ahmed El Gendy, managing editor of the Egyptian newspaper El Akhbar.
