A prominent Egyptian novelist, writer, journalist, and editor-in-chief of Akhbar Al-Adab magazine, which is published by Akhbar Al-Yom. He was born on May 9, 1945, in Sohag . He graduated from the School of Arts and Crafts in 1962, specializing in oriental carpet design. He started his life working as a painter in the Egyptian General Organization for Production Cooperation, supervising carpet factories in Minya until 1966, and secretary of the Egyptian Cooperative Society for Craftsmen and Artists of Khan El Khalili from 1967 to 1969. He began publishing his fiction writings in 1963. He participated in many Arab and international conferences. Some of his works were translated into eight foreign languages. Among his literary works: The Chronicles of El Zafarana Neighborhood (1967), and El Rifai (1980). Among the awards he received: The Order of Merit of the first class, and The State Incentive Award for the novel in 1980.
