An Egyptian actor and monologue singer, born in El Darb El Ahmar, Cairo in 1912. He worked with his father from a young age in carpentry, which prevented him from going to school. He loved singing and humorous imitation since his childhood, which enabled him to join Ali Kassar's troupe when he grew up. Later on, he formed a performance group with Soraya Helmy and Souad Mekkawi. He was discovered by director Niazi Mustafa, who introduced him in the films Hassan and Hassan, and Mohamed Ali Street. He continued to appear in many films, such as The Bread Seller, and Amber. He died in 1985 at the age of 73.
