A Syrian musician and composer, born in Hama in 1923. He studied oud playing in Hama and then studied in Damascus the basics of musical notation. He worked in singing and composing, sang folk songs, and was interested in the various types of singing and poetry. Al Sarraj produced the movie Wayfarer, in which he also participated as an actor. He recorded some of his songs for the Near East Broadcasting Station. Also, he composed songs for a number of male and female singers. In 1952, he traveled to Egypt and recorded a number of his songs for the Voice of the Arabs Radio Station. In 1953, he performed at the coronation ceremonies of King Hussein of Jordan. He passed away on June 18, 2003.
