An Egyptian music composer, born on June 16, 1916 in Sharqia Governorate. He moved to Cairo with his father and resided in El-Abaseya, where he grew up in a musical environment. He attended Fuad I High School and at the same time, he joined The Institute of Arabic Music. He was the first to compose the score and songs for the first cartoon movie, then it was his breakthrough when he headed to composing the music score for films, most notably The Unknown Past. He composed the music for the lyrical operetta "Ya Lail Ya Ain" written by Yahya Hakki and also composed music for the most important radio series such as "Abu Nawas". His most important achievement is the revival of our musical heritage through the Arabic Music Ensemble, presenting their first concert on March 17, 1967. He passed away on January 30, 1985.
