Youssef Sharaf El Din began his artistic career as an assistant director in 1965 in several joint Lebanese and Egyptian films. His brother is actor Fouad Sharaf El Din, and his sister is Joumana Sharaf El Din. He moved to directing in 1980 in Lebanon, where he made many successful action films, and then immigrated to Cairo in 1986 to direct many successful films there.
