He was an Egyptian journalist and novelist. He worked at Akhbar Alyum newspaper in 1958 as an editor in the accidents section. He then became head of Arabic affairs in Akher Sa'a magazine. Abouzekri was a prolific writer, publishing books like "The Massacre of the Innocent on the 5th of June" and "Types of Women". He also established “Al Itihad” newspaper in United Arab Emirates. After the re-establishment of political parties in Egypt, he co-founded the first newspaper to be published on behalf of the ruling party, called “Masr”. His works include the films Against the Government, and The Extension. His daughter is director Kamla Wagih Abouzekri. He died on the 8th of January, 2004, of a heart attack.
