He had a first stroke in the year 2000, from which he was cured in 2001, followed by three other strokes, then a fourth fatal one. In 2004, he was referred to retirement, but his love for literature, art and culture prompted him to work at the Iraqi Media Network as an examiner for television scripts in 2005 until his death in February 18.
