An Iranian writer and poet who wrote "Kitab al-Aghani" (The Book of Songs). He was a descendant of Marwan ibn Muhammad, the last of the Umayyad caliphs. He was born in Isfahan and raised in Baghdad. He was one of the most notable writers and compilers of his time. He wrote "Maqatil at-Talibiyyin" (Talibid Fights) and others. The movie Laila Al-Amreya was adapted from a story he wrote.
