An Iranian writer who wrote the Book of Songs. His grandfather was Marwan bin Muhammad, the last of the Umayyad caliphs. He is an Isfahani by birth of Baghdadi origin. He was one of the most notable writers and compilers of his time. He wrote Manajib Al Khasun, Muqatil Al Talibin, Kitab Al Aghani, and others. The movie Laila Al-Amreya was quoted from a story he wrote.
