Born Sherouette Moustafa Ebraheem in Shoubra, she graduated from the Higher Institute for Social Services. Beautiful as she is, she started with lead roles when film producer Ramses Nagueeb gave her the first chance. In 1960 when TV started in Egypt Laila acted in a big number of series: “Aadaat wa Taqaleed”i.e. Customs and traditions.”, “Al-leil wal-baraary i.e. Night and Prairies.”, “Aaelat Shalash i.e The Shalash Family.”, “Al-zawaag ala tareeqaty i.e Marriage..my way”, “Mohaakamat al-doctora Mona i.e. Dr. Mona’s tribunal”, “Al-osta al-moudeer i.e Master manager ”and “Al-qanoon la ya’ref Aisha i.e. In law there is no Aisha”. Al-dabbour i.e The wasp”, “Gharameyyaat Afeefy i.e Afeefy’s love affairs”. Her great success was in light comedy TV series. Laila married several times. Among her ex husbands is the Egyptian actor Youssef Sha’baan, the composer Khaaled al-Ameer and the director Hussein Fawzy. She has one son of her first marriage who is a university professor.
