He was an Egyptian writer and visionary. Tawfiq Ismail El Hakim was born in Alexandria in 1898, to an Egyptian father and a Turkish mother. He obtained his baccalaureate degree in 1921. He entered the Faculty of Law because of his father's desire and graduated in 1925. He is considered one of the pioneers of Arabic novels and playwrights in the history of modern Arabic literature. He wrote many novels which was later adapted into movies, most notably A Bullet to the Heart (1944), Soft Hands (1963), Diaries of a DA in the Countryside (1969), and The Message (1976). He passed away in 1987.
