Egyptian director, screenwriter, film editor, and makeup artist born on 8 December 1896. He started as an actor during WWI then travelled to Germany where her worked as an assistant director and got married to a German woman and had one daughter, Diana. He was appointed the first Dean of the High Cinema Institute in Giza in 1959. He's known for A Happy Day (1940), A Bullet to the Heart (1944) and Zeinab (1952). He died in 1972 at age 76.
