Egyptian actress born in Cairo on 1 February 1952 to an artistic family; her father is Gamal El Damaty, an assistant director and executive producer, and her mother is actress Laila Nasr. She started acting at the young age of five at her school plays then went on to act in film and television. She was multi-talented as she was able to act, sing, and dance. She retired in 1990 and settled in England. Raqia appeared in many works including: You Killed My Dad (1970), Searching for a Scandal (1973), and When Love Sings (1973).
