An Egyptian actor who was born in Qalyub. He joined the Abdul Rahman Rushdie Troupe in 1923, then the Ramses Troupe, and left it in 1930 to join the Fatima Rushdi Troupe. He also worked with the National Troupe. At the beginning of his life, he worked as a director for high school theater groups. Among his most famous roles on stage are Shajar al-Durr, Antarah ibn Shaddad, and Shahryar. His last play was The Devil's Tears (1959). Movies always put him in the role of a rich, hard-hearted aristocratic man, as in the films Return My Heart and Virgins' Hearts.
