Biography

A Syrian actor of Palestinian descent, born in Jaffa in 1926. He began his career in Palestine in 1940, working at the Jerusalem radio and in theaters there. With the catastrophic events of 1948, he sought refuge in Syria and resided in Damascus, where he joined the Syrian Acting...Read more Troupe in 1949. He was one of the founders of the Syrian National Theater in 1960. He participated in more than 150 plays, including Enemy of the People, and Joan of Arc. He also participated in many early television series, such as Face to Face, and The Old Wound. His role in the 1985 TV movie The New Birth was one of his last TV roles. He was honored in 1985 on the occasion of the silver jubilee of the founding of the Syrian TV. He died in 1989.
