The talented Egyptian art critic and scriptwriter Raouf Tawfik was born in 1939. He took over the presidency of Good Morning magazine. He was also appointed as president of the Alexandria Film Festival. He participated in many international festivals and met with many international stars of directing and acting. His breakthrough was through authoring several notable books. The first of these was 'When the Cinema Says No' in 1974. His screenwriting debut was the movie The Wife of an Important Man (1988), followed by several films, including Mr. Karate (1993).
