An Egyptian singer, actor and writer, born in Sharkia Governorate in 1912, he initially worked as an employee in the railways, and began his artistic career in singing the popular mawwal, before leaving his job to join the Okasha band, from which his singing career began. He worked on the radio from its inception in 1934. His debut in the cinema was the following year in Antar Effendi, then he established the Tribal Films company for artistic production, which participated in the production of a number of films, including The Peasant's Son (1948).
