A writer and director, born in 1960 in Tunis. At the age of six, he moved with his parents to Nice, France. In 2000 he wrote and directed his first film, Blame It on Voltaire, whereupon Kechiche continued to make films, which garnered critical acclaim. His next film, Games of Love and Chance, won two Césars in the categories of Best Film and Best Director, and his third film, The Secret of the Grain won the Special Jury Prize from the Venice International Film Festival, in addition to the Cesar Awards for Best Film and Best Director. In 2013, Kechiche's fifth film, Blue Is the Warmest Color, won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. However, a few days later, much controversy arose about what happened during the making of the film.
